I think everyone knows about bobbing for apples. These days it regarded more as a game. In times past though, there was a little more to it and it was believed that the first person to successfully remove an apple from the water with their teeth would be the first next person to marry. Then, as now, all participants in the game were guaranteed to receive a complimentary nostril full of water for their troubles.
