For a long time now I have been subscribed to the free Funds for Writers newsletter. It’s an interesting newsletter and contains a lot of useful information, a lot or which is about getting money into the pockets of writers. I will be honest here and tell you that the main thing that I look at, when I receive the newsletters, is the section about freelance markets. Some of the markets take fiction. Some don’t, and there are not too many that take the kind of fiction that I write (or try to). Occasionally though, I see a market that I think might be a match for my work and give them a try. I do skim through the rest of the information in the newsletter and sometimes find an article interesting enough to me to make me stop skimming and start reading properly. Some of the stuff I skim is about competitions ( I rarely enter them) and some is about grants for writers, which is of no interest to me, but I am sure will be of huge interest to other readers.
Funds for Writers is not just the name of a newsletter though. There is also a Funds for Writers website. Both, of course, belong to the same person, C. Hope Clark, and her speciality is finding funds for writers. She has also written quite a lot of ebooks for writers to use to try and find markets for their work. A while back, I bought her ebook Short and Sweet Markets For Fillers and I found a lot of markets amongst its virtual pages of which I had been unaware.
Like I said, I have been getting the newsletter for a while now, but Hope has just moved her newsletter over to a new hosting company and so I have had to re-subscribe. When I clicked the link and resubscribed though it occurred to me that I had not visited the Funds website for a long time and so did ( I get around to everything sooner or later). I remembered it as being a useful site and found that it still is. While I was there I had a little look at the ebooks section and found that Hope has written a lot more ebooks than I thought. One of the newer ones is called Quick as a Flash and contains 98 markets for flash fiction. A lot of Hope’s ebooks are market guides. One contains poetry markets, another contains market for humour, another contains… Well I’ve gone on long enough. If you want to see what other markets are covered JUST CLICK HERE
As you have probably noticed, if you’ve visited my blog before, I like to pass on links to useful or interesting sites. Then again sometimes I might just be trying to give you a jump. Remember The Demon Girl? (oops!). Hee-hee! Anyway, today’s link will, hopefully be useful to someone, somewhere, sometime, somehow.
Okay, that’s it for today.
The end.
