Seasonal Spectres: At The Travellers Rest

Posted on December 10, 2007November 28, 2024 by Steve Calvert

Yuletide visitors to The Travellers Rest at Brough, Derbyshire, might have the opportunity to see Christmas spirits in a whole new light, because the pub is reputably haunted by the ghost of a farm girl. The poor girl was the recipient of unwanted advances one Christmas Eve, and while trying to fend off a love-struck labourer she fell down the cellar stairs and was killed. Now – so local story has it – she is a regular patron of the establishment each anniversary of her death.

I have just taken a virtual tour of The Travellers Rest and I must say that, with or without ghosts, it certainly looks like a lovely place. If you fancy taking the tour yourself you can do so by clicking HERE
