Posted on December 12, 2007November 28, 2024 by Steve Calvert

Kempston Manor is now offices, but in the nineteenth century it was a family home. One Christmas Eve the owners of the manor had been out to a ball. On their return home, their young son ran out to meet them, only to be knocked down by their carriage. This was not only a very unfortunate incident it was a fatal. The whole sorry affair is believed to be re-enacted every Christmas Eve when the sound of the carriage and is said to be heard along with screams of the young boy as he is trampled beneath the horse’s hooves.
