Like a lot of people, I often make spelling mistakes and the fact that I rely so much on the Microsoft Word spell check facility probably ensures that my spelling will always be a cause for concern. Sometimes though, especially when I am jotting down notes in a text file, I do not have a spell check to turn to and have to either grab a dictionary or do an online check.
Today I was writing the word ‘definately’ and got the feeling I may not be spelling it correctly, so I typed it into Google and discovered that I was right about being wrong in my spelling assumption. The correct spelling is ‘definitely’ and according to this article at the Daily Record it is the most misspelled word in the English language.
So I am not alone in my spelling misdemeanor. I only hope that I get it right next time.
